Morning Kisses

"Mommy I NEEEEDD you!" pitter patter pitter patter Aiden runs to my bed just as the sun starts leaking through the blinds.  We mange to settle him so I can close my eyes for a couple more minutes.  Roll, twist, kick, turn, those minutes go by in seconds.  I slowly open my eyes to find Aiden an inch from my face staring intently with his smile eyes.  "Time to get up mommy!" and gives my a sweet morning kiss.

To steal a few more minutes of precious rest I gave Aiden my phone and told him to take pictures.  This one actually turned out pretty good.  Maybe we  have a budding photographer on our hands!?

Aiden, Spring 2011

I found some more old photos on my phone from this spring.  I really love these pictures.  They are taken just in front of the garden door at Mom's house.  Aiden and I went over for a bit and he saw some flowers Mom was going to plant outside.  He immediately bent down to smell them and I just had to grab my phone and capture it.  The light was coming in so softly over his face and creating the perfect shadows.  It looks like such a gentle moment as he experiences the smell of new flowers, fascinated by spring's arrival.  What a sweet little boy. <3

Kelso Lake Summer/Fall 2011

I found some pictures from our little trip to Kelso this summer/early fall.  We walked down to the beach and then around the lake.  They recently built a board walk around the edge of the lake on the water, so it was a picturesque little walk.  The only thing was the wind!  It was gusting so strongly I was scared I was going to drop my phone in the water when I was taking the pictures!  You can kind of see in the photos how the wind was blowing our hair and eyes closed!  It was so strong Aiden was blown over a couple on times and we had to hold on to him so he could walk!  It was wild!  It did die down a bit when we left the water, but that was something I'll never forget~~~

Driving~~~

I have to be the luckiest girt.  There have been so many times Greg has driven me to McMaster this semester!  The commute every day gets really tiring and boring, so it's always a joyous occasion when Greg schedules a meeting in Hamilton so he can drive me to Mac!  I was especially blessed this exam break as Greg drove me to EVERY SINGLE one of my exams! *sigh* This afforded me some last minute cram time to look over my note the final time and talk to someone on the drive down to calm any anxiety.  One night even Aiden accompanied me and Aiden and Greg went Christmas shopping as I wrote the exam!  I am such a lucky girl to have such a supportive family!

Mary Poppins!

The quality of the pictures is very bad.  That's because we are actually not allowed to take pictures inside the theatre so I sneakily had to do it without my flash on.  But if we were caught, Greg had the wonderful idea of pretending we didn't know English.  We went with Mom and Dad and Aiden was left at home with a babysitter. This was a first, as he had never had a babysitter outside of family before.  We asked his daycare teacher to sit for us and when Aiden opened the door he was a very happy and excited little boy.  That was just what we wanted, so we left the two of them to play with no worries.  We had a nice little dinner in Toronto and headed to the play.  Unfortunately Mom and Dad had different seating than us, but we got the best tickets in the house! We were so close to the stage we could see the little microphones the actors wore taped in their hair!  That was the closes I have ever been!  It was a great experience and a really fun play.

Crawford Lake Hike - Fall 2011

We went to Crawford lake for a nice fall hike.  It was 3 pm and it was already getting dark out! Especially since it is always darker in the trees.  Crawford Lake is a wonderful place to take kids, there are some long houses set up and you can go inside and experience what it was like to live as a native.  There are also drying racks, fire pits and a spiked fence surrounding the enclosure.  After checking out the village we went for a walk around the lake.  There is a board walk all the way around, which was perfect for us as we had the stroller.  Aiden ran most of the way though.

Drum Roll Please....

And with much anticipation, I will finish exams tomorrow and will upload a TON of pictures tomorrow night.  Oh the excitement. For now I will give you a little teaser: my bundle of perfection.

Just a few pictures I found

This was sometime back in summer.  Aiden and his great grandpa!

To Infinity and Beyond!

Guess who Aiden is going to be for Halloween! None other than his favourite super hero of all time, Buzz Lightyear!  Aiden loves to be Buzz, and frequently pretends to be him.  He gets so into the character that he won't answer to anything else other than Buzz, jumps off of all the furniture, pretends to shoot lasers, thinks his arm has a built in microphone to Star Command, and lays horizontally on any close object and pretends to fly.

Psycholinguistics

A little bit bored in class one early Tuesday morning.  The real question should be, what part of the brain is responsible for reaching the conclusion an 8:30 am class would be a good idea for people who commute?

Breakfast of Champions

No words needed.

Adventure to Bass Pro Shop

October 2011

One cold weekend we winded up at bass pro shop.  Being the adventure seekers we are, we decided to go on a wildlife safari (forget the zebras, think dead bears).  We started off by deep lake diving and underwater exploring.  The fish were HUGE! WE saw a large spear-nose fish and an slippery slimy eel.  After a quick-dry under the hot florescent ceiling lamps we decided a quick hike through the woods was necessary.  Quietly we tip-toed so as to spot the abundant wildlife.  We spotted bears, fox, raccoons, deer, and even some humans! Next we deicide to do some RVing! We weaved and sped through the imaginary forest. Oh the exhilaration! We ended of the adventure with a nice tour of some spacious tents.

Fire Hall 4 Open House!

October 15th 2011

Today was the brand new fire hall open house!  We decided to partake in some free entertainment.  Aiden loved it, after all he is very into firemen these days.  He got to ride in an old-fashion fire truck, sit in the back of an ambulance, explore the back of the biggest fire truck on the lot, and even sit in the drivers seat and play with the buttons!  To top it of he got to work the fire hose! Aiden even worked a hotdog and a bag of chips into the equation. Lucky boy! Just when we were about to leave Aiden grabbed my shirt sleeve and whispered in my ear; "Moma, I don't wanna go now, I have to meet a fireman".  Well how could I say no to that!? So off we traipsed back to the fire hall to meet a real live fireman.  Aiden was too shy to actually say hell, but we did get to meet one after all.  It was a great adventure!

Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving Weekend 2011

We went for a visit to Andrew's Scenic Acres! There was a playgroud with an old tire swing.  Aiden loved to sing in circles and became increasingly dizzy.  We bumped up and down on a hay tractor ride as we toured the farm fields.  We braved our way through a haunted forest maze and no one even screamed! Aidens favourite activity was the hay bale pile.  He climbed to the top and loudly proclaimed "I the king of the castle!" He didn't want to come down!  We ended the day with farm fresh gourds, squash, tarts and apple cider. YUM!

My Favourite Moments

The warm sun filtered through the blanket tossed over our heads.  Aiden and I hid from imaginary thing under the covers in bed this cool Sunday morning.  Aiden smiled an inch from my face, his biggest smile eyes wide with excitement.  Giggling and shrinking with laughter we threw the blankets off and back over our heads again and again.  In one of our quiet moments waiting to hear a noise, Aiden whispered while looking into my eyes, "Mommy, are you there?"  "Yes Aiden, I'm here" I whispered back smiling.  "I here too Mommy". He quietly grinned back at me.  He took my face in his little warm hands and held it close to his.  He rubbed our noses in an Eskimo kiss, one of his favourites.  We snuggled under the sunlight in our own little getaway and he whispered, "Mama, this fun."

Hurry Hurry Ride the Fire Truck!

I have recently developed a brilliant new technique to get Aiden to leave the house when he doesn't want to.  Can you guess what it is?!  I tell him we need to save an animal(or sometimes a person)!  We rush to the front door, get our shoes on, put his fire hat on, hurry into the fire truck (our car) and race off to the scene!  I have never seen him move so fast in his life! :)  I often find Aiden gives wonderful life lessons.  Everything works with the right perspective! ;)

Our Scuba Diving Trip in Mexico Last Week!

Did I get you?  We didn't go to Mexico after all, we settled for an aquarium in the Rainforest Cafe!  Being poor student/new family that we are and having no money, we didn't eat and just went on a mini FREE scuba diving adventure!  Aiden was very pleased and loved looking at the fish.  There was one orange guy the size of him!  That fish could probably feed 30 people!

McMaster

It was so rainy and bleak last week that when the sun came out I HAD to snap a picture!  Second picture is of the lovely McMaster parking lot that is a hike over a highway and hill to get to.  This is only a small portion of the MASSIVE parking lot.  A game I appear to be fond of only because I play it so often is Find My Car.  It's funny sometimes because I hear other students playing it too!

Cake show and Nuit Blanche

Last weekend Greg Aiden Sara Lauren and Greg's friend Eric went to the Baking Show at the International Center and then to Nuit Blanche in Toronto.  The Baking show was a little underwhelming, but there were really elaborate cakes which were nice to see.  Of course we were there primarily to EAT!  We had cupcakes, cupcake brownies, peach creme brule, and sugar free chocolate (not that it really mattered at that point since we were having a sugar high).  We ate dinner at Moxie's which was very yummy.  Aiden was a very awake little boy for the rest of the night and walked for a while in Toronto looking at all the performers.  It was very hard to see a lot of them though, the crowds were so large.  I remember when I first went to Nuit Blanch maybe 3-4 years ago with my dad.  We got to see more displays because it was just a brand new festival.
